Herefordshire is a wonderful place to walk, and whatever your preference, you should find a walk to suit you in this book. There are the slopes of the Black Mountains and the Marches, the wilder commons and downs of Herefordshire, the renowned black and white villages, Herefordshire's famous churches, the Wye Valley, the traditional rolling countryside or the ancient woodlands of Lingen. Two of the walks are close to the centre of Hereford and many are accessible by public transport.

Each of the walk chapters begins with a fact panel giving start location with grid reference, OS Explorer map sheet number, distance, grade, number of stiles, refreshments and if public transport is available. The detailed route finding instructions are in numbered paragraphs which refer to numbers on the clear sketch maps. There are also some notes about the area and points of interest.
