Scottish Coast to Coast

Scottish Coast to Coast

Scottish Coast to Coast

by: Brian Smailes
This Scottish coast to coast walk more than matches the English and Welsh coast to coast for scenery, hospitality and overall challenge. Starting at Oban in the west and finishing at St Andrews in the east it takes in some of the finest scenery Scotland has to offer. To see the forests, rivers, lochs and deer on the mountains brings something special to this walk that only Scotland can do.

The walk, from coast to coast, is 128 miles and like any major long distance walk is a test of body mind and spirit. Most of the route is sparsely populated and there are many open aspects over the hillsides and in the glens and forest sections feature prominently throughout the walk. All along the route the mountain scenery is dramatic and spectacular with deer sighting on the hills and other animal and bird life throughout. Approaching the Perth area the mountains and moorland decrease to be by more fields and farms. With the wind behind you and favourable weather the crossing can be completed comfortably in seven days.

This book contains all the essential information you need including a detailed route description, sketches, gradient profile, preparation, equipment, grid references, campsite and Bed and Breakfast details, walking times, location photographs and general advice.
