Yorkshire Dales 40 Favourite Walks Pocket Guidebook

Yorkshire Dales 40 Favourite Walks Pocket Guidebook

by: Alastair Ross
The Yorkshire Dales combine a wild limestone landscape of high rolling moorland gouged by dramatic caves and cascading waterfalls with peaceful farmland carpeted in wildflowers and dotted with ruined abbeys, ancient stone walls and barns, and timeless villages waiting to be discovered.

The 40 moderate walks in this collection highlight the very best the area has to offer and includes adventures in Wharfedale, Malhamdale, Nidderdale, Ribblesdale, Wensleydale, Swaledale and Dentdale. Many routes make use of sections of established long distance trails such as the Pennine way and the Dales Way.

The routes are mainly short and circular, most of which can be undertaken in half a day or less. The few linear walks involve retracing your steps, so you will always end where you started. Each walk entry begins with at-a-glance details of distance, time, terrain, parking and public transport access where available. Clear route finding instructions are provided together with simple overview sketch maps, but OS Explorer map sheet numbers are also provided. The text also includes brief notes on features of interest along the way and colour photographs.
