This is the second part of a two-volume walking guide to the entire Yorkshire Dales. This guide takes you on an exploration of the dales and surrounding hills and moors within the northern and eastern quarters of the region. Spectacular waterfalls, dramatic gorges, expansive heather moors, rich woodlands and colourful flower meadows are just some of the natural delights encountered, while elsewhere intriguing relics of lead mining and quarrying scatter the valleys and hills.

Circular walks ranging from gentle three mile strolls to more strenuous day long rambles seek out the most attractive and fascinating features of the area. The guide covers the Howgills, Mallerstang, Nidderdale, Wensleydale, Swaledale and Coverdale with 43 circular walks, plus suggestions for combining routes into longer expeditions. Each walk chapter begins with practical information including distance, height gain, time and facilities on route, followed by a summary of the route describing its main features. Detailed route finding instructions are accompanied by coloured OS 1:50,000 maps. There are also numerous full colour photographs throughout the book making it a visually attractive guide.
