The fringes of the great northern city of Leeds, along with Wakefield and the country towards Bradford and Huddersfield offer untold attraction within the boundaries of West Yorkshire. This guidebook provides 25 walks in these areas, well-illustrated and concisely described. The walks lead you through some stunning landscapes of woodland, riverbank, parkland, nature reserves, reservoirs and canal towpaths.

Explore the banks of the rivers Aire and Calder along with the leisurely towpaths of four different canals, and savour splendid parkland at Temple Newsam, Golden Acre and Roundhay. Discover the natural delights of Cockers Dale, Judy Woods and Fairburn Ings, and walk through history at Oakwell Hall, Bardsey, Emley, Barwick in Elmet, Thornton Viaduct and Kirkstall. Amble around the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and St Aldan's bird reserve and enjoy a wealth of colourful stone-built villages such as Norwood Green, Heath, Tong, Woolley and Aberford.
