Walks Around the Rhinogs Guidebook

Walks Around the Rhinogs Guidebook

by: Michael Burnett
Within the Snowdonia National Park the Rhinog Mountains form the distinctive ridge which can be seen to the left of the A470 when you emerge from the forest above Ganllwyd travelling north. Although not as high as the better-known peaks further north, the Rhinogs nevertheless constitute one of the wildest regions of Snowdonia. The scenery is spectacular and, because there are no roads over the ridge, the area surrounding this has retained its remoteness.

The walks described here are concentrated to the east, with some walks to the north and south of the main Rhinog ridge. The walks are readily accessible from Bronaber and Trawsfynydd, while the larger centres of Dolgellau and Porthmadog are a short distance away. Each walk entry begins with a summary description of the route plus instructions on how to get to the start. This is followed by detailed route finding instructions and a sketch map. Short notes on points of interest are given in italics.
