Walking Close to the Malvern Hills Guidebook

Walking Close to the Malvern Hills Guidebook

by: Clive Brown
One of a range of 'no frills' local walking guide booklets which admirably achieve their objective of getting you out in the countryside amongst beautiful scenery on carefully chosen routes full of interest. The directions are simple and detailed and include clear pencil drawn sketch maps.

This guide describes eleven varied and interesting circular routes in and around the Malvern Hills. The walks are between 3 and 6.5 miles in length. Malvern is simply translated from the old English a 'Bare Hill'. The hills extend north-south for nine miles and are never wider than a mile at the widest close to Great Malvern. The altitude is exaggerated by the steep sides of the hills and the low land of the Severn Valley. The highest point is Worcestershire Beacon at 1394 feet. The southern lower part of the hills is dominated by the British Camp Iron Age Fort.

The walk locations are:
Madresfield Court - 6.5 miles
Hanley Swan and Blackmore Wood - 4.75 miles
Colwall Stone and Lane End - 6.75 miles
British Camp and Gullet Quarry - 4.5 miles
Worcestershire Beacon - 6.5 miles
West Malvern and Six Acre Wood - 4.75 miles
North Hill - 3.5 miles
British Camp - 3 miles
Brockamin and Leigh Brook - 6 miles
Lower Wyche and Malvern Common - 4.25 miles
Croome Landscape Park - 3.5 miles
