Walking Close to Oundle Guidebook

Walking Close to Oundle Guidebook

by: Clive Brown
One of a range of 'no frills' local walking guide booklets which admirably achieve their objective of getting you out in the countryside amongst beautiful scenery on carefully chosen routes full of interest. The directions are clear and precise and the pencil drawn sketch maps are particularly attractive as well as practical.

This guide focuses on the River Nene near Oundle with ten varied and interesting circular walks, mainly about 6 miles in length. Oundle is a picturesque stone built town closer to Peterborough than Northampton, nesting in a full curve of the river Nene, bordered by 'Constablesque' water meadows. Oundle is famous for its school, founded in 1556 by Sir William Laxton a London grocer. Other highlights of the area encountered along the walks are Fotheringhay Castle and Barnwell Country Park.
