There are twenty walks described in this guidebook. Undoubtedly the Ullswater and Patterdale region provides some of the best and most varied walks in the Lake District National Park. Outings that explore superlative landscape from lakeside to the lofty heights and which discover numerous secluded and secretive side valleys. From the high adventures on Helvellyn's Striding Edge to the gentle beauty of Ullswater's sylvan shores, the walking here is quite superb.

Each walk is described on a double page spread, you don't need to turn the page mid-walk, with a suitably detailed coloured map that can form the basis of the walk (although it is recommended you also take an OS Explorer map with you for detailed reference and navigation, particularly on the high fells). There is a 'fact file' for each walk which provides the essential information and identifies places to eat, drink, rest, and shelter. The walks are classified according to difficulty. There are numerous stunning colour photographs throughout, and the ring binding keeps the guidebook flat in your pocket and always allows it to open on the page of your chosen walk.
