The District of Tunbridge Wells boasts some of the finest countryside in the South East, much of it in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which encompasses one of the best-preserved medieval landscapes in Europe. Its attractions include the elegant Royal Tunbridge Wells in the west, the historic market town of Cranbrook and charming villages such as Goudhurst and Benenden in the east. Bedgebury pinetum and forest and the acclaimed National Trust garden near Sissinghurst add to the wonderful mix of scenery and interest - the epitome of rural England.

The Tunbridge Wells Circular Walk is a 27.5 miles route that can be walked at one go or tackled in sections with good transport links to and from Tunbridge Wells at its centre. The route links fine historical villages including Frant, Groombridge and Speldhurst, crossing varied Wealden countryside on the way.

The 'Tunbridge Wells Heritage Walking Trail' takes you past buildings significant for their fine architecture or for the famous people who have lived in them.

The 'Six Walks Through Time' are all centred on the town of Cranbrook whose wealth derived from the medieval cloth industry which financed the exceptionally fine buildings that line its main streets. Four of the walks take you to neighbouring villages and sites: Goudhurst on its hill top with panoramic views from its church tower, Benenden with its public school and large village green, Bedgebury with its lakes and trees and Sissinghurst Castle with the renowned garden created by Vita Sackville-West. The other two are shorter walks through the countryside close to Cranbrook town.

The book includes newly drawn mapping at 1:25000 scale, detailed navigation instructions plus information about points of interest, geology, geography, and history of the area. This book will guide you through the walks and explain the sights along the way.
