Trans Pennine Trail

Trans Pennine Trail - Map 1 West - Irish Sea to Yorkshire

Trans Pennine Trail - Map 1 West - Irish Sea to Yorkshire

by: Trans Pennine Trail Project
The Trans Pennine Trail is the first long distance multi-user trail in the UK. Stretching the breadth of northern England from the Irish Sea to the North Sea, it is a journey of 215 miles (346km). Added to this are the north/south route options, between Kirkburton, Leeds, York and Chesterfield, making around 370 miles (595km) of signed route to follow along a mixture of well surfaced canal and railway paths, tracks and bridleways, footpaths, cycle paths, cycle lanes and minor roads. In places the Trail diverges, offering alternative routes for walkers to minimise minor road walking. Much of the route provides relatively easy access for trail users with disabilities and long sections are completely traffic-free and ideal for families with children.

The double-sided full colour map at a scale of 1:50,000 provides clear easy route finding. The Trans Pennine Trail is shown in black with a pink highlight indicating the route option for walkers. All the information you need is on this map.

This map covers the western section from the Victorian seaside town of Southport and the city of Liverpool to the Old Moor Wetland Centre near Barnsley. A journey across the Pennines with an amazing range of sights and scenes as the Trail passes through the countryside, towns and cities of northern England. You can follow historic railways and canals and travel in the footsteps of packhorse traders on ancient salt routes.
