North Devon Coastal Walks Guidebook

North Devon Coastal Walks Guidebook

by: William Fricker
North Devon is arguably one of the most beautiful corners of England. Much of the coastline is owned by the National Trust who protect and manage it for future generations. It is a rural landscape of small villages, rich pastures, secluded coves, long sandy beaches and, in its west and east corners, high cliffs which fall precipitously to the sea. The circular walks in this map-guide follow much of the coastal footpath, but also take you through wooded valleys and beside gentle rivers where you will encounter wildlife, wild flowers and old tracks - and be enchanted.

This folded map-guide contains ten walks chosen to showcase the best of the North Cotswolds. Its strength lies in the quality of the mapping, which eliminates the need to carry an Ordnance Survey map. The large scale coloured maps show the route in clear detail and include text boxes pointing to locations where written instructions may be necessary. Side panels give practical information including distance, a time estimate, grade, terrain and path type, suitability for dogs, parking, refreshment facilities and features of interest. Suggestions for linking walks are given with times. Each walk is spread across two panels of the map, making it easy to fold to your selected walk. The map is printed on both sides on laminated waterproof and tear resistant paper.

The walk locations are:
Combe Martin and Great Hangman - 4.6 miles
Heddon Valley and Trentishoe Down - 6 miles
Valley of Rocks - 5.3 miles
Lynmouth and Countisbury - 4.4 miles
Mortehoe and Lee - 6.6 miles
Saunton, Croyde and Putsborough - 9 miles
Braunton, Crow Point and Saunton - 7.2 or 11.2 miles
Hartland Quay and Tichberry - 7.8 miles
Clovelly and Brownsham - 5.2 miles
Buck's Mills and Peppercombe - 6.3 miles
