Llyn Peninsula OS Coast Path Walking Map Guide

Llyn Peninsula OS Coast Path Walking Map Guide

by: Northern Eye
This map is essentially an Ordnance Survey Explorer 1:25000 scale map of the Wales Coast Path covering the complete Llyn Peninsula section. But it has the additional benefit of having the map in a book format. This innovative concept makes it a perfect companion for walkers on the Trail as the book format is more convenient and easier to use while outside compared with a large paper map. It is also more cost effective, reducing the need to purchase several OS Explorer sheets necessary for a linear route.

The complete llyn Peninsula path is covered in 44 pages of full colour mapping, beginning at the Menai Bridge and travelling in an anti-clockwise direction to finish at Porthmadog. The path is clearly marked on the maps and there are symbols showing facilities at the main towns and villages. There is also a page with useful contact information and a short introduction with a photographic mosaic.

The Llyn Peninsula is a remote unspoilt peninsula that juts 30 miles into the Irish Sea off north-west Wales. At its tip is Bardsey Island, the 'burial place of 20,000 saints' and a place of pilgrimage from the Middle Ages to today.

Much of the coast path runs through the Llyn Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Along the way you will enjoy tiny pilgrims' churches, cliffs and headlands, hidden coves, and long empty beaches. The coast is bright with wildflowers in spring, and alive with birds and butterflies in summer. You also have a good chance of seeing seals, porpoise, dolphins, peregrines, and choughs.
