Lancashire Year Round Walks Guidebook

Lancashire Year Round Walks Guidebook

author: Nick Burton
This walking guide contains 20 circular routes covering the very best of Lancashire, from high in the Lancashire Hills down to glorious forest and wildlife-rich moorland, through historic towns and villages and along meandering waterways. Walks range in length from 2.5 to 8 miles, with recommendations for autumn, winter, spring, and summer. Highlights include:
Spring: Far reaching views from Harrock Hill and abundant bluebells in the woodlands of the Read Hall estate.
Summer: Moorland tracks near the lost settlement of Gambleside and colourful boats along the Lancashire Canal.
Autumn: Pendle witch country near Barrowford and woodland colour around Hurst Green.
Winter: Christmas decorations adorning the shoreline of Entwistle Reservoir and winter wildlife around Marton Mere.

Each walk entry begins with a paragraph or two describing the highlights of the walk. This is followed by practical information including how to get there and parking with satnav location, OS Explorer map sheet reference, terrain details and top pub recommendations.
