author: Alastair Ross
Lancashire is one of England's most populous counties, yet it contains a huge variety of captivating scenery with wild moorlands and enchanting woods, peaceful valleys, and historic remains, and no less than three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. All of this is bordered by the sparking jewel of Morecambe Bay and the lively Lancashire coast.

These 40 walks explore some of the stunning walking opportunities within very easy reach of many of the North West's towns and cities, including the lonely fells of the Forest of Bowland and the pastoral beauty of the Ribble and Lune valleys, the walkers' paradise of the West Pennine Moors and the mysteries of Pendle Hill, as well as the endless seascapes from the county's western fringes.

Each walk entry begins with at-a-glance details of distance, time, terrain, parking and public transport access where available.
