Kintyre Way

Kintyre Way

authors: Sandra Bardwell and Jacquetta Megarry
The Kintyre Way, one of Scotland's Great Trail, criss-crosses Scotland's only 'mainland island' for 100 miles (161km). It starts from Tarbert on Loch Fyne in the north of the Kintyre peninsula and ends on the Atlantic coast at Machrihanish and is clearly waymarked throughout. The Kintyre peninsula has rugged coastlines facing west to the Atlantic and east over the Firth of Clyde. You walk past castles, abbeys and prehistoric sites, along deserted beaches and forestry tracks with glorious views, and across wild moorland.

This essential trail guide contains all you need to plan and enjoy walking the Kintyre Way including the recent extension and major route changes.
