Isle of Skye 40 Coast and Country Walks Pocket Guidebook

Isle of Skye 40 Coast and Country Walks Pocket Guidebook

by: Paul and Helen Webster
The Isle of Skye (or An t-Eilean Sgitheanach in its native Gaelic tongue) occupies an almost mythical place in the minds of many Scots. Romantic castles, magnificent seascapes, the alpine peaks of the Cuillin Ridge and scattered white crofters' cottages, the island has all these and more.

This book features 40 moderate walks on Skye and neighbouring Raasay that take in many celebrated classics but reveal hidden gems too. Written by Skye residents Paul and Helen Webster, these routes explore both the wild and gentler sides of this dramatic landscape.

The walks in this handy pocket guide are mainly circular short to moderate walks, most of which can be undertaken in half a day or less. The few linear walks involve retracing your steps, so you will always end where you started. Each walk entry begins with at-a-glance details of distance, time, terrain and public transport access where available. Clear route finding instructions are provided together with simple overview sketch maps, but OS Explorer map sheet numbers are also provided. The text also includes brief notes on features of interest along the way and colour photographs.
