Family Walks in Hampshire in and around the Meon Valley

This guidebook describes 20 tried and tested walks exploring the Meon river valley area in southern Hampshire. The river Meon is one of Hampshire's quintessential chalk streams. It rises from natural springs in the South Downs near to the village of East Meon. The routes are suitable for novices, casual walkers, family groups and experienced ramblers.

Enjoy a variety of landscapes: the downlands with their pattern of gentle and open grassy slopes, cultivated river valleys, characteristic beech woods and picturesque villages. The trails follow the meanders, banks, millraces, flood ponds, watercress beds and canalized stretches of the river.

Essential information is provided in a panel at the beginning of each walk for easy reference. The concise route instructions are provided in numbered paragraphs with corresponding numbers shown on the clear sketch maps making navigation straightforward.
