Devon's Jurassic Coast - 10 Leisure Walks of Discovery Guidebook

Devon's Jurassic Coast - 10 Leisure Walks of Discovery Guidebook

by: Rodney Legg
Iron-staining has given us the warm pinks and reds of Devon's sandstone cliffs. These were laid down 240 million years ago in warm lagoons when Britain was 15 degrees further south, at the same latitude as the Sahara is today. This continental drift, causing Africa to collide with Europe, led to the uplifting that produced the remarkable landform geology of the East Devon and Dorset coast.

The walks in this book are designed to let you experience this dramatic coastline. All the walks are circular and vary in length from 4 to 11 miles. The walks are graded between one and three boot symbols with three boots the more challenging. They are ideal for families or groups of friends looking for an afternoon in glorious historic countryside, or for a more leisurely walk with a suitable pause at a pub or refreshment spot en route. Clear route directions are provided together with sketch maps and the guide is well illustrated throughout with colour photographs. The handy size also means it will slip easily into your pocket.

The walk locations are:
Littleham and Exmouth - 7.5 miles
Budleigh Salterton and East Budleigh - 7 miles
Otterton and Danger Point - 7.5 miles
Mutter's Moor and Ladram - 4.5 miles
Harpford and Bowd - 6 miles
Sidmouth and Salcombe Regis - 5 miles
Salcombe Regis and Dunscombe - 4 miles
