Circular Walks in Wirral has been written as a guide to some of Wirral's most peaceful and scenic corners. The walks outlined will take you through the very best of Wirral's countryside, a mix of woodland and farmland, quiet lanes and bridleways, as well as windswept marshes and sandy beaches. There are seventeen walks of varied theme and distance spread throughout the peninsula.

Many associate Wirral with industry and urban sprawl, but look a little further and you will find that much of Wirral's rural charm and character has survived the relentless development of the last century. Even those living in the very centre of towns such as Birkenhead, Wallasey or Bebbington are rarely more than a few miles from open country which, in detail, is every bit as attractive today as it was a century ago.

Here you can enjoy quiet field paths or extensive views from the sandstone ridge; walk across miles of tidal sands or watch seals from a windswept island with a history reaching back over 1200 years. Perhaps quiet woodlands are more your scene or bird watching on the vast salt marshes at Neston and Parkgate. All this is available within the tiny area which we know today as Wirral.

The book has an informative introductory chapter providing a brief history of the area. Each walk has clear route finding instructions and clear sketch maps. Distance and details of the start point together with grid references are given. There is also plenty of information provided about items of interest along the way. This is given in italic text to easily distinguish it from the navigational text.
