50 Walks in the Peak District Guidebook

50 Walks in the Peak District Guidebook

by: various contributors
The Peak District sits at the base of the Pennines, with one foot in the North and one in the Midlands. At its northern tip the high moorlands merge seamlessly into the South Pennine massif, dividing Yorkshire and Lancashire. In the south the graceful river Dove sparkles out of the limestone landscape, dividing Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Between these two contrasting images lies the Peak District National Park. Surely nowhere else in Britain offers so great a contrast in landscapes to so many people in such a relatively small area.

This guide book explores some of the best of the Peak District countryside. It includes 50 themed walks of between 2 and 10 miles, each with fascinating background reading. The routes are colour-coded from easy strolls to more challenging walks making selection easy. There are clear, easy-to-follow route descriptions, including detailed colour sketch maps, for every walk. Information on what to look out for during the walk and places to eat and drink is provided, including what to see in the area while you're there and guidance for dog owners on where to walk and dog-friendly establishments. The book also has some full-page colour photographs of locations visited on some of the walks.
