Walks Around Anglesey Ynys Mon Guidebook

Walks Around Anglesey Ynys Mon Guidebook

author: David Berry
The Isle of Anglesey (Ynys Mon), is renowned for its stunning coastal scenery and maritime history. Most of the coastline falls within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty covering nearly one third of Anglesey including Holyhead Mountain, the highest point. The AONB includes cliffs, rocky headlands and coves, award-winning sandy beaches, sand dunes, small harbours, salt marshes, woodland, heathland and a hinterland containing low hills offering panoramic views.

The 42 linked circular walks in this book explore the beautiful diverse landscape of the AONB and its fascinating history. The walks include the best sections of the Coastal Path and the island's high viewpoints. They pass lighthouses and beacons and feature old telegraph stations, ancient churches, impressive Neolithic burial chambers, Iron Age hillforts, old brickworks, Holy Wells, a country park and historic communities. The routes range from a 2 mile Copper Mine Trail to a 10.5 mile exploration of Holy Island. Many routes contain shorter options and individual walks can be linked to provide longer day walks if required.

Each walk entry begins with a short overview description giving an indication of difficulty and features plus the starting point including grid reference. Detailed route-finding instructions follow in numbered paragraphs relating to numbered points on an associated sketch map.
