Walking Close to the Norfolk Broads - Northern Area Guidebook

Walking Close to the Norfolk Broads - Northern Area Guidebook

by: Clive Brown
One of a range of 'no frills' local walking guide booklets which admirably achieve their objective of getting you out in the countryside amongst beautiful scenery on carefully chosen routes full of interest. The directions are clear and precise and the pencil drawn sketch maps are particularly attractive as well as practical.

The triangular area of land between Norwich, North Walsham and Lowestoft known as the Norfolk Broads includes sixty-three broads or shallow lakes connected by seven rivers. The location of some of these watercourses is only revealed to the walker by the presence of a sail moving along a hidden river. The Broads provide a haven for a wide variety of wildlife including some now rare bird and butterfly species. There are nine National Nature Reserves and twenty-eight Sites of Special Scientific Interest.

This guide describes ten varied and interesting circular walks within the northern half of the Norfolk Broads including Acle, Coltishall, Wroxham, Horsey and the Thurne and Bure Rivers. The walks are between 4.5 and 11 miles in length.

The walk locations are:
Horstead and the Bure Valley - 6.75 miles
Martham and Martham Broad - 6.25 miles
Potter Heigham and Middle Wall - 6.25 miles
Winterton and Winterton Dunes Nature Reserve - 4.75 miles
Wroxham, Coltishall and Granny Bard's Lane - 11.25 miles
Horsey and Horsey Mere - 3.25 miles
Honing Lock and Dilham - 6.5 miles
Stokesby and Muck Fleet - 4.5 miles
