Walking Close to Nottingham Guidebook

Walking Close to Nottingham Guidebook

by: Clive Brown
One of a range of 'no frills' local walking guide booklets which admirably achieve their objective of getting you out in the countryside amongst beautiful scenery on carefully chosen routes full of interest. The directions are clear and precise and the pencil drawn sketch maps are particularly attractive as well as practical. The walks are between 4 and 9 miles in length

This guide describes ten varied and interesting circular walks close to the River Trent near Nottingham. The River Trent, England's third longest river, flows from its source on Biddulph Moor in north Staffordshire for 170 miles to Trent Falls where it joins the River Ouse. The Trent has been used as a transport system since prehistoric times. The Romans used it and the Vikings found it a convenient route to pillage inland Saxon Britain.

The walk locations are:
Kegworth and Ratcliffe Cut - 6.75 miles
Hoveringham Mill, Caythorpe and Gunthorpe - 6.25 miles
Kneeton and Occupation Lane - 5.75 miles
Ruddington Moor and Bradmore - 5.5 miles
Burton Joyce and Cocker Beck - 9.5 miles
Stoke Badolph and Stoke Lock - 4.5 miles
Lambley and Upper Dumble - 4.5 miles
Kinoulton, Vimy Ridge and Hickling - 7.5 miles
Cotgrave Forest - 6 miles
