Walking Close to Lutterworth Guidebook

Walking Close to Lutterworth Guidebook

by: Clive Brown
One of a range of 'no frills' local walking guide booklets which admirably achieve their objective of getting you out in the countryside amongst beautiful scenery on carefully chosen routes full of interest. The directions are simple and detailed and include clear pencil drawn sketch maps.

This guide describes ten varied and interesting circular walks in the countryside around Lutterworth in Leicestershire. The walks are between 5 and 7 miles in length. Due to nearby busy major roads the rumble and hiss of traffic can often be heard in the background during the walks in this book. Rolling hills, tranquil rivers, babbling brooks, wooded valleys and lush parkland reward the walker who ventures away from the busy towns and highways and ignores these modern intrusions.

Lutterworth dates back to the Dark Ages, historians speculate that the name comes from the old Norse description of Lutter's Vordig or Luther's Farm. The town was listed in the Domesday Book and gained a charter from King John in 1214.

The walk locations are:
