Footsteps - an Anthology of Walking in Wales

Footsteps - an Anthology of Walking in Wales

by: Dewi Roberts
This is not a walking guide book but a unique and very diverse selection of poetry and prose, presenting readers with some fascinating items from various genres: poetry, fiction, essays and journalism. It will prove a valuable literary companion to all who enjoy walking, or the more sedentary who may wish to travel vicariously through literature.
Many areas are represented and the timespan of the book encomoasses four centuries. Wordsworth, Hazlitt, de Quincey, Borrow, Nathaniel Hawthorne, George Gissing and Gerard Manley Hopkins all came to Wales and have left us their walking impressions. Much more recent writers included Bruce Chatwin, Bill Bryson, R.M. Lockley, William Condry, Jim Perrin, Nigel Jenkins, Jeremy Hooker, Sian James, R.S. Thomas, Gillian Clarke and Peter Finch.
Dewi Roberts is widely regarded as Wales' most prolific anthologist and this is his seventh book in this genre. He is also a prose writer and commentator on the literature of Wales.
