Constable Country - 10 Leisure Walks

Constable Country - 10 Leisure Walks

by: Alan Casey
The River Stour, gently meanders its way through the rolling Suffolk countryside. This wonderful river flows east from Sipsey Bridge four miles from its source in Cambridgeshire along eight miles in Suffolk and forms the county boundary between Suffolk and Essex, all the way to Cattawade, its length totalling 68 miles.

The walks in this book start from Bures and we cross from Suffolk to Essex walking in the footsteps of John Constable, our famous landscape painter, who gives his name to this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty affectionately known as 'Constable Country'. Each walk travels through the countryside that inspired Constable, from the rolling arable land and river valleys to the magnificent and memorable Stour Estuary.

All of the walks in this pocket guide are circular and begin at a car park or safe parking location with the grid reference provided. Public transport options are given where available. The walks are graded between one and three boot symbols with three boots the hardest. Distance and a short description of the terrain are also provided. Clear route directions are provided together with simple sketch maps. One of the features that make the 'Boot Up' series of guides so attractive is the emphasis on good landscape photography and the book is well illustrated throughout with colour photographs. The handy size also means it will slip easily into your pocket, protected by the tough cover.

The walk locations are:
Bures and Mount Bures Castle - 3 miles
Bures and Arger Fen - 5.5 miles
Wormingford - 3.5 miles
